Its Tax Time Again!

This time of the year many of us are preparing or thinking of preparing our income tax returns.  As we have seen on those Jon Hamm commercials for tax software see the video here a lot of people are choosing to do their taxes themselves using software on their PC or Mac.

However, since your tax return contains personal information such as your Social Security number as well as other sensitive data, Identity Theft is rampant during tax season!  Cyberthieves not only want to grab your identity they also want to grab your tax refund!

So how do you protect yourself?

  1. First and foremost make sure the computer you are using to prepare your return is free of any malware/viruses or spyware.  If you have not had a check up or tune up on your system in the last 3 months or more, NOW is the time to have one done by a trained, experience tech expert!
  2. Have proactive, real time monitoring security software on your computer since these threats change by the minute, literally.
  3. Have a backup plan, preferably one that is not only reliable but also convenient.

Of course you can do this all yourself, or if you are on of our Concierge Plan members you are already enjoying the peace of mind of having Webroot security software and Carbonite online backup, and if you need a tune up its only going to cost you a $20 copay**.  Not a Concierge Plan member?  Give us a call today or go to our Plans page and you can buy one of our plans online and start saving today.

**Copay is for Concierge Plan members that request an on-site visit, remote support calls the copay is waived.  Webroot and Carbonite are included in our Standard and Premium Plans, not our Basic Plan.
